What Is A Slurry Pump?

Before the definition of a slurry pump, it is necessary to figure out what a slurry is.

A slurry is a mixture of any liquid (usually water) combined with some solid particles.

Slurries can be broadly divided into the two general groups of non-settling or settling types.

Slurry pump is the general name of pumps used in the pumping of slurries, the most common type of slurry pump is centrifugal type, slurry pump should be considered as a generic term to distinguish it from other centrifugal clear liquid pumps.

According to the solids, slurry pumps can be categorized into slurry pumps, sand pumps, gravel pumps and dredge pumps.

According to the direction of shaft, slurry pumps can be categorized into horizontal slurry pumps and vertical slurry pumps.

According to the applications, slurry pumps have more different names, for example, ball mill discharge pumps, filter press feed pumps, froth pumps, sump pumps, submersible pumps and etc..
